i had so many problems with vista i decided to downgrade to xp i had purchased xp so i have an original copy and key everything was ok untill i got an error stating that ie was not install properly and to run a disk error chck on startup but when i did it windows would not even start then i had to install xp again and now i am using aol explrer to actually use the net ie wont work i cant install my antivirus software i cant do much please help me i am not to technical but i can follow instructions thanks in advance.

Yes so many used faced problem with vista because of its old computer or its driver related problem. but try windows 7 it is work fine and faster then vista.
it you want to go for widows xp then its ok but i suggest you to install one time windows 7 you really like it.

what problem did you have?

what a/v are you using? if a paid version have you asked them for help?

there are several good free versions out there, avg/avira/avast

you need a working anti virus

that error message can happen if you made a change in partition size.

i use a dual booot system and any changed in a partition ( add/remove/resize) will cause that

i think the aol browser is a modified I.E. ( at least it was years ago)

was that system ever running XP?
