A trojan for OSX - OSX Boonana Trojan - has been reported. Details can
be read all over the net. Here is one site:http://www.securemac.com/boonana-bulletin.php
Two things should be noted.1. The trojan does not install itself. You install it yourself.
2. Its not just OSX. It exploits a flaw in java so linux, unix, and
windows are all infect-able.
A removal tool on softpedia is available but no idea how effective it
An initial check by the user can be carried out so.
Open BBEdit for OSX or TextWrangler. Go to File - Open Hidden.
If there is a hidden folder .jnana in the User's folder then
the trojan is there. Delete it and look for other files, for example,
the ones listed here:http://www.securemac.com/boonana-info.php
After reading the above article one will no doubt appreciate that one
has to be very gullible to allow this to happen.
One way to pre-empt the risk is to disable Java.
