UNIX is a catch all name. Linux is a flavor of UNIX. There are many flavors of Unix actualy. I my self use FreeBSD and as it names states, it is FREE. Check it out at www.freebsd.org

There are other flavors of UNIX of course, and the most popular ones are Linux bassed, such as Ubunto (spelling) redhat and fedorra. There is also BSD, FreeBSD,  the list goes on and on and on.

wow. this is a mall problem. if you want to download unix. you have to do :
You can download a fully-functional demo copy of Stat/Transfer for the Unix platform of your choice.  The demos are identical to fully-licensed copies, with the critical exception that they will delete about one out every sixteenth case from the output file. You can thus evaluate Stat/Transfer on your machine, but you will need to buy a license to use it for production work.

When you decide to purchase Stat/Transfer, we will send you a license file via e-mail that removes the limitation of the demo version.  We can also, if you like, send you a hardcopy manual and cd-rom.

How about going for OS X - UNIX with a very attractive interface.
With G5 you can also have Windows.

Cheers
