AVG recently detected a virus on a CD I inserted. I have never heard of this virus before and it didn't come up on any internet searches. Does anyone know what kind of virus this is?

There's a file on the disk - autorun.inf - which when read after the CD is inserted, automatically runs a file - auto.exe

AVG is basically saying it finds auto.exe to be malware. It could be correct or it could be a false positive. If possible, you need to upload the file to VirusTotal to see what other scanners make of it.

You can also submit the file to AVG for analysis. Should it prove to be a false positive, they will remove the detection for it.

What operating system is this as the behaviors of autoplay/autorun differ slightly depending on your version of Windows. What is the CD you are inserting?
