however it doesn't look like the original problem is still there Smiley
but when I checked the event viewer this was there, not sure if this was there the whole time or not.

Freezing can be any one of a number of things.

A few questions.

  • Was it just a random freeze again Rob or is there any pattern to this?
  • Is this a new build? Has the problem always been there since you built it, or is it a relatively new problem?
  • If it's not a problem since you built it (a relatively new problem), were there any changes before the problem started?
  • Have you tried anything to troubleshoot this yourself previously?
.

This should hopefully sort that error out.

OTM

  • Double-click OTM.exe to run it.
  • Copy the following code. Do not include the word Code:
Code:
:Files
sc stop WinDefend /c
sc config WinDefend start= disabled /c
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Security Client\Support\EppOobe.etl

:commands
[REBOOT]
  • Return to OTM, right click in the area & choose Paste.
  • Push the large button.
  • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please allow it to do so if asked.
  • The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot. Copy/paste the contents of that report back here in your next reply.

The only pattern is that it happens every hour, which made me think it was an overheating issue, but I have monitored all the temperatures and everything continues to work fine, I tried unplugging unnecessary hardware and only running the basic components and it still does it, so I am convinced its a software issue and not a hardware issue. I have had the computer know for over a year and this is the first problem with it. And the only troubleshooting I've done is to check the event logs to see why it is shutting down, and the only the I get is what has been posted here, other than the normal windows has shut down unexpectedly logs that show up when the computer shuts down unexpectedly.

Hi Rob.

Thanks. I had overheating in mind too, but as you've already ruled that out amongst other things....

That may be most relevant.

I would suggest you perform a clean boot - BUT, you'll have problems accessing your school/uni's network (No Cisco, AV etc).

Is it not possible for your school/uni's IT dept to take a look?

Speccy

Download Speccy Portable from here

  • Extract the files from the zip.
  • Right click speccy64.exe & choose Run as Administrator
  • When it finishes (the icon in the bottom left will stop circling) Click File > Save as Text File & save it to your desktop. Note the file name.
  • Open the notepad file and delete the line that gives the serial number of your Operating System. (It will be near the top about 10 lines down.)
  • Attach the notepad file to your next post.

I only need the school login for Internet, which I have already started my computer in safe mode without network connections and the ethernet cable unplugged so I know its not that. I will try a clean boot and see what happens, and the IT here at my school is unable to help, I called them about my problem before I hauled my computer half way across campus and they said they could really only help with Internet problems or the occasional virus. The only thing I can think of to try if you are unable to figure something out is to try and reinstall windows.

The other thing I noticed today is that I got a:
The instruction at 0x0000000070551500 reference memory at 0x00000000712B0EDC. The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/0 Error.

I don't know what program that was for but it seems to pop up for any all open applications. Like I said I'm gonna try a clean boot and see where that gets me.
